My May Flowers

If you take care of your own garden, the rewards far outweigh the work. For me, working in the garden in not so much work as it is therapy.  Clearing a planting bed is a great way to clear your mind.   Call me crazy but I love to weed!  Because of the cool and wet spring this year, May foliage has grown lush and the flowers abundant.  After a very long winter that led into a global pandemic.  It is a wonderful to have a garden to walk through and replenish your spirit. Here are some of my plantings that have bloomed this May.  And some that will entice your sense of smell.

I thought my Siberian iris’s had died off but they came back this year strong.

Early pink flowers turn into apricots. If the birds don’t eat them first.

Van Houtti spirea. Showers of white flowers.

Red and White peonies along the garden fence.

Viburnum-‘Juddii’ one of my favorites. Blooming in spring and late summer.

Here are some aromatic wonders.

Miss Kim lilac. One of the most intense aromas in the garden.

The Korean lilac. A great dwarf lilac.

Mock Orange smells like you are walking through an orange orchard

Designing beautiful pool plans for your home

If you plan to place a swimming area in your home, consider using a landscape architectural service to make it look really beautiful. You do not have to build a standard four-sided rectangular pool. You can go with a freestyle shape. Add a spa, a slide, a waterfall, sun shelf, or a fountain. If your property has a grade change maybe you should consider an infinity edge. Accentuate the area with trees, shrubs and perennials. Keep in mind seasonal interest and color.

A pool and spa with a light colored stone paving creates a sophisticated look.

Beautifully landscaped gardens and pools will make the your property more pleasant and relaxing. Having a swimming area on your property will add value to your home. If you are planning to put your house on the market, a beautifully landscaped property with a pool, will up the resale of your home.

In addition to a beautiful space, functionality is an important factor to consider. Make your backyard the perfect place to hang out in the spring, summer and fall. Imagine barbecue parties by the poolside with your relatives and friends or around a firepit in the cooler

evenings of fall. Maybe you want your property to look like a resort or maybe just a quiet place to relax. The best way to achieve this is to hire a creative and professional landscape architect. He is experienced in creating a master plan for your property that will turn your dreams into a reality. A professional designer will sit down with you to discuss your ideas and plan out a program. Do you entertain often, or will it be an intimate space for you and your family. What type of outdoor furnishings will you require. Will you need a cabana, an outdoor kitchen and BBQ, a pergola, or arbor? A popular item these days are outdoor pizza ovens. Mmmmmm!

The options for an extraordinary living space are limitless. Of course the one limiting factor for most of us will be the budget. However, if you start with a professional landscape plan, it will be clear what you can expect your budget to be, reducing the risk that there will be any unwanted surprises later on. A landscape architect can also help find qualified contractors to install your design. Hiring a landscape architect can save you lots of money in the long run.

Keep dreaming and may your next project be a successful one.
